The new school is scheduled to open in September 2021 on Armour Hill. Kaawaate, which means shining waters in Ojibway, was chosen as a sign of respect and acknowledgment of the First Nation land the school is built on. With natural sunlight pouring in massive windows and breathtaking views of the city, the building on the Hunter Street hill is situated in such a way as to inspire students from without as well as within its walls.
